Mystic movement
Research shows that exposure to music can also improve children’s ability to learn. Music and movement instruction has been shown to improve children’s memory, cognitive development, learning skills and expressive ability. Due to the recent explosion of research in neural development and its connection to early childhood music, the media is reporting on research studies that support a link that music educators have long suspected-exposure to music at an early age benefits children’s musical and cognitive development” (Turner, 1999, p. 30).
Movement is an important part of any music lesson. Aside from the individual benefits already highlighted, when children move around to a soundtrack, they benefit from improving their hand-eye coordination, concentration, balance, and cognitive skills. Listening to music for 20 minutes while practicing movement can help you in developing your motor skills.
